The seat options available to Singapore Airlines' business class passengers during advance seat selection now depend on fare type and KrisFlyer membership status.

This follows changes to the airline's seat selection policy, which kicked in on Jun. 2, 2026.

Prior to the changes, business class passengers could generally select from seat options throughout the cabin.

Fare-type dependent options

Under the new policy, PPS Club members, as well as passengers on Business Flexi and Business Standard fares, will continue to be able to select any available seat when booking their tickets, an SIA spokesperson explained in response to media queries.

KrisFlyer members become a PPS Club member after accumulating enough PPS Value by flying on SIA's suites, first class or business class.

Passengers on lower-priced Business Lite tickets and those redeeming Saver or Advantage tickets will only be able to select their seats from a smaller selection at the time of booking.

Saver or Advantage tickets are award tickets which passengers can redeem with miles.

Seat selections made before Jun. 2, 2026, will not be affected, the spokesperson said.

"This change is part of our ongoing efforts to adjust seat availability for commercial reasons, while accommodating customers with specific needs," the SIA spokesperson said.

Passengers may view the seat map for their flight, and select or change seats using the Manage Booking function on the airline's website or mobile app.

"SIA apologises to all customers if their preferred seat is unavailable," the SIA spokesperson said.
