A woman who was involved in a 2025 police chase near Jalan Besar Road has pleaded guilty to eight of the 19 charges she faced on Jun. 19, 2026.

The charges Jessica Ang Kai Kai admitted to were for traffic and vape-related offences, according to The Straits Times (ST).

The remaining charges, which include abetting her husband in multiple traffic offences, will be taken into account by the judge during sentencing on Jun. 29, 2026.

Ang's husband, Chen Jinghan (transliteration), was surrounded by police and arrested near Mustafa Centre while she had driven away from the scene with her female friend.

She was later arrested with her friend at about 5:50am on Jun. 29, 2025, after a police chase.

Parked car facing the wrong way

At around midnight on Jun. 29, 2025, Ang, Chen, and her friend drove a rented car to Little India.

According to Shin Min Daily News, upon reaching their destination, Chen dropped Ang and her friend off while he searched for a parking lot.

In his search, Chen drove against the flow of traffic on a one-way street and parked the car.

At around 5am, a police officer noticed the car was parked facing the wrong way and approached to check the driver's identity.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Chen had his driving license revoked in October 2024 after a lorry he had driven resulted in the death of a motorcyclist.

He also faces 13 other charges, including drug-related offences, and was subsequently put on the wanted list for failing to report to the police, as required under his bail conditions in May 2025.

Chen attempted to flee but was caught and arrested.

Crashed into lorry

Ang returned to the scene at 5:50am and attempted to speak to her husband.

However, as the officer was dealing with the incident, Ang and her friend decided to flee.

The officer gave chase and activated his siren.

As Ang and her friend were driving away from the police, they crashed into a lorry.

The police observed that both women were walking unsteadily as they alighted from the vehicle.

Shin Min Daily News reported that Ang later tested positive for methamphetamine during a urine test and had consumed it approximately six hours before the incident.

Mothership had also previously reported that the police found substances suspected to be controlled drugs and drug paraphernalia in the car.

More than 100 K-pods were seized from the vehicle.

At the height of her addiction, she consumed as many as 10 pods a day, and had been using them since October 2024.

She had previously been caught speeding twice within two months, reaching speeds of up to 124km per hour.

Sent to rehabilitation centre

Ang was subsequently sent to a rehabilitation centre for treatment and showed remorse.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Ang said she would take responsibility for her mistakes and demonstrate that she had turned over a new leaf, serving as a peer supporter to help other young offenders.

The prosecution requested that the judge sentence Ang to between 21 and 27 weeks’ imprisonment, a fine of at least S$5,400, and a 30-month driving ban.

The case has been adjourned till Jun. 29, 2026.
