Your safety & well-being remain our top priority: Faishal Ibrahim to join 900 S'poreans on 2026 Haj pilgrimage
Faishal noted that preparations were made early and the Middle East situation continues to be monitored very closely.
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, Faishal Ibrahim, will lead a delegation of 900 Singapore pilgrims to Mecca and Medina (Makkah and Madinah) in Saudi Arabia for the Haj.
In a pre-departure session speech on Apr. 25, 2026, at Suntec City Convention Centre, Faishal recognised that the "anticipation for Haj is not without its anxieties, especially given the developments in the Middle East".
Faishal said he was humbled to join this year's Haj as head of delegation alongside teams from Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS), Association of Muslim Travel Agents Singapore (AMTAS) and the Singapore Pilgrims' Affairs Office (SPAO).
"We will be there to support you on the ground, ensure that your Haj is as safe, smooth, and well-supported as possible."

Top priority: safety and well-being
In his speech, Faishal emphasised that safety and well-being will always remain a top priority and that preparations for this year's Haj have been underway for some time.
He said: "MUIS has been working closely with AMTAS, our appointed Haj travel agents, service providers and our partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), including the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU), to prepare for this year’s pilgrimage".

Faishal noted that the necessary arrangements were put in place early for Singapore pilgrims.
He added that he had visited Saudi Arabia in November 2025 to meet Saudi officials to discuss preparations.
He said that as the situation in the Middle East evolved, MUIS and its partners monitored the situation closely, reviewing preparations and implementing additional measures and contingency plans.

MUIS added that in a new initiative, pilgrims from Singapore will depart and return together, across three direct flights to and from Saudi Arabia.
MUIS also said that visa processes have been completed.
The flights from Singapore to Medina will depart on May 9, 12, and 14.
While the flights from Jeddah to Singapore will return on Jun. 1, 5, and 8.
MUIS said that all Singapore Haj pilgrims will be issued the mandatory Nusuk Card before departure.
The Nusuk Card is an official document that contains personal information, access to holy sites and other trip details.
At the pre-departure session, Faishal was handed a Nusuk Card by Board Member of AlMasiah Company, Badr Abdulmohsen Iraqi, in a symbolic handover.

Dedicated team on the ground
In his speech, Faishal said a dedicated SPAO team will be on the ground, medical support will be readily available in Saudi Arabia and an emergency assistance app, PilgrimSG, for real-time communications.
Faishal said the various organisations will continue to take a measured and careful approach.
He also encouraged pilgrims to stay updated, take care of their health and follow the guidance of the Singapore team and Saudi authorities.
"I hope you can embark on this journey with a sense of calm and confidence, knowing that the necessary support is in place – so that you can focus on what matters most: your ibadah (worship)."
