A 35-year-old man, who was jailed in 2025 after calling for the death of then-President Halimah Yacob in 2023, is currently on the run.

Vickreman Harvey Chettiar has a warrant of arrest issued against him, The Straits Times (ST) said in a report on Mar. 3.

A court review of the matter was held on the same day.

The case is scheduled for further review in September 2026.

Used a shovel to hit a man

According to charge sheets seen by Mothership, Vickreman was at a pavilion at Yishun Neighbourhood Park at around 7:25am on May 3, 2025, when he allegedly used a shovel to hit a man on his chin, left and right arms.

The alleged victim sustained superficial cuts.

Previous cases

According to ST, Vickreman was also sentenced to 10 months and 12 weeks’ jail in 2025 after pleading guilty to three harassment charges.

He also admitted to one count of fabricating false evidence.

14 other charges, including multiple harassment counts, were taken into consideration during sentencing.

On Apr. 30, 2023, Vickreman published an Instagram story calling for then-President Halimah’s death, allegedly writing that she should be hanged from a lamppost near the Parliament House.

At the time, he was already facing three unrelated charges — one for mischief and two for harassment — and was out on S$10,000 bail.

A member of the public alerted the police to the post.

After being charged over the incident, he allegedly told a police officer that he wanted to stab a female judge who was presiding over his case, ST reported.

If convicted of voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon, an offender may be jailed for up to seven years, fined, caned, or face any combination of such penalties.
