Man, 23, apprehended after attempted suicide at NTU Saraca Hall

A 23-year-old man was apprehended after he allegedly attempted suicide at an undergraduate housing facility at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on Mar. 10.

The incident first came to public attention after a post on Reddit surfaced the same day.

The Reddit user said he saw at least two police cars and an ambulance at Saraca Hall at around 7:20pm on Tuesday.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police confirmed receiving a call for assistance at 38 Nanyang Crescent, which is the address of Saraca Hall.

The man sustained minor injuries and was conveyed conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

He was subsequently apprehended under Section 7 of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008.
