S'pore woman casually rides motorised luggage across road
Motorised luggage are considered as motorised personal mobility devices.
A woman was seen crossing a road in Singapore while riding a motorised luggage.
The scene was caught on camera by an onlooker travelling behind her, and the video was uploaded to Facebook on Jan. 10.
In the video, the woman, dressed in black, could be seen sitting on a pink motorised luggage while carrying a backpack.
As she approached the zebra crossing ahead, she looked to her left, presumably to check for incoming traffic.
She then mounted a pedestrian footpath and continued travelling under the sheltered walkway, riding her motorised luggage.
It was unclear from the 25-second clip where exactly the incident happened.
Ridable motorised luggage categorised as PMD
According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), motorised luggage that can be used to transport riders is categorised as a motorised personal mobility device (PMD).
Motorised luggage is thus subject to prevailing device criteria for motorised PMDs, including weight and maximum speed limits, and must be registered with LTA before it can be ridden on cycling paths.
Motorised luggage cannot be used on footpaths, pedestrian-only paths, or roads.
