2250.

That was the winning 4D number for Saturday, Aug. 23.

It also happened to be the lucky number derived from an altar at the Block 503A Canberra Link void deck, according to Shin Min Daily News.

The altar was for the Hungry Ghost Festival event the night before.

A large number of devotees, as well as passers-by who saw the number, were believed to have betted on it.

Won as much as S$60,000

An event committee member, who declined to be named, estimated that over 50 people were believed to have won a prize.

Some won as much as S$13,000 and S$25,000, as seen in a photo containing betting slips displaying the validated prize money.

The committee member said that in the past few days, they recorded 58 devotees returning to thank the deities with joss paper, fruits, toys and other offerings.

Four devotees, who had won the lottery, also donated a total of over S$13,000 for getai performances.

The committee member added that for the past 13 years, this altar has been part of the Hungry Ghost Festival activities.

However, in previous instances, the winning numbers were permutations of the number at the altar, or subsequently emerged as winning numbers only after a few draws.

An 87-year-old woman, who won S$10,000, told Shin Min that she gave a portion of the money to those in need.

This included workers washing dishes at the nearby coffee shop and cleaning staff in the neighbourhood.

"If I can win this much, I want to share the happiness and blessings," she said.
