I didn’t realise my scalp was secretly crying for help until today
Whoa, the amount of white flakes on my scalp!
Like most people who don’t see dandruff falling dramatically onto their shoulders, I assumed my scalp was fine. Healthy, even. Why wouldn’t it be? I wash my hair daily.
Then came the scalp scan at TK TrichoKare, as part of their Scalp Purifying Therapy treatment.
The reveal aka pre-treatment scalp scan
My TrichoKare hair consultant, Hina, first sat me down for a 200x magnified scalp scan using their Tricho-Scan device.
This was the first time in my life doing a detailed scalp scan.
The scan magnified my scalp skin and hair follicles, revealing visible white flakes looking like dandruff—a result of my persistent dry scalp skin condition.
The scans reminded me of a scene from one of those facial sessions, whereby dirt from whiteheads are fully visible after extraction from clogged pores. It was oddly satisfying to watch but I’m also disgusted by the amount of flakes I had on my scalp.

While the flakes from a dry scalp look like dandruff, they are not. Phew.

I was shooketh by the flakes showing up on my scalp scan, which I could barely spot with my naked eyes. But now, this image is going to be stuck in my mind for a while. Photo by Mothership.
There were also some patches of redness, which the scan revealed. The hair consultant explained that these areas may have been irritated by high-heat blow drying.

Indeed, I was guilty as charged.
Hair and scalp therapy next
After an extensive chat about my hair and scalp condition, I was treated to a customised European Herbal Scalp Masque, meticulously formulated by the trichologists, to clear out excess sebum and unclog pores on my scalp.

It’s specially-formulated to be extra nourishing for problematic dry or even oily scalps.
Daily shampooing can’t clear the excess sebum on your scalp that could have accumulated for a long time and gone unnoticed, like mine. So if you’re struggling with dandruff, oily scalp or other hair and scalp conditions, this may help you manage your condition better.
My hair and scalp also got a good cleanse with TrichoKare’s Nourishing Hair Bath shampoo – this regime was done at the expert hands of their hair therapist.
The hair wash was so relaxing, I ended up taking an unplanned power nap.
This scalp therapy session definitely makes a good off-day plan.
Supplementing nutrients for hair follicle growth and better scalp health
After cleansing my scalp, the hair consultant carefully applied their specially-formulated treatment essence using a NanoMist spray to ensure even absorption. This treatment essence is customised to target my scalp condition and help strengthen hair growth.

One of the unique features of TK TrichoKare’s scalp therapy is their Hair Bang treatment.
It is a low-level infrared light therapy that helps keep your scalp’s pH in check, detoxifies, and promotes overall scalp health.Wearing the Hair Bang, manifesting better scalp health and better blood circulation on the scalp. Photo by Mothership.
Post-treatment scan
After the Hair Bang, I took another look at my scalp that is magnified up to 200x with their Tricho-Scan device.
This time, my follicles appeared visibly cleaner – the redness had reduced and the flakes had largely been cleaned out from my scalp.
I even spotted a few baby hairs that were previously hidden under flakes and gunk!
My scalp could finally breathe again.

Although these treatments may not resolve your hair and scalp issues in just one session, they provide a deep cleanse and resolve the issues much more effectively than what a daily home routine can typically achieve. That helps pave the way for a healthier scalp which can allow for healthier hair growth.
