South Korean singer Kim Jong Kook is getting married.
He confirmed the news on Aug. 18 via a handwritten letter on his fan cafe.
The 49-year-old, who is known for being in the hit variety series "Running Man", said he had imagined himself posting something like this one day but was more nervous than he expected.
"I thought I was being obvious here and there, but I believe many of you guys might still find it sudden."
"Sorry for being busy meeting my other half instead of meeting the deadline for a new album for this 30th debut anniversary that you guys have been nagging me about," he jokingly said.
"I know I'm way behind schedule (to get married), but at least it's happening, right?" he wrote.
Saying that he will try his best to live well, he thanked his fans who have continuously supported him all these years.
"I will continue to be the Kim Jong Kook who works harder and lives diligently."
The wedding will be an intimate ceremony held in the near future with family members and close friends.
The identity of Kim's partner is not revealed.
Early this year, when asked by hosts on a South Korean entertainment show about his recent purchase of a luxury villa in the Gangnam district of Seoul, Kim said that he did not have someone to marry yet, but if he did, the house would become their "newlywed house".
Kim rose to fame in the mid-1990s after debuting as a member of the K-pop group Turbo and went solo in 2001.
