The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has found tadalafil, a prescription medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction, in two food products.

SFA: Taladfil should only be prescribed under medical supervision

According to CNAthe products in question are Loboose High End Super Candy and Premium Thundercat Super Candy.

Both products were sold on online e-commerce platforms.

SFA added that tadalafil should only be prescribed under medical supervision and that inappropriate usage is dangerous with the risk of serious side effects such as heart attack, stroke, headache, migraine, irregular heart rate and priapism, which is a painful and exceedingly long erection.

It also poses serious risks for individuals who either have heart-related problems or are on heart medication.

Two other products found to contain substance listed under Poisons act

SFA also said that two other food products, Lomie Peach Berries Blossom Fruity Tea and Urbanism Candy, were found to have sibutramine.

Sibutramine is a substance listed under the Poisons Act and is a weight-loss medicine that is banned in Singapore due to its increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

It can also cause psychosis, seizures and hallucinations.

Urbanism Candy was also found to contain sennosides, a medicine used to typically relieve constipation.

Common side effects include abdominal pain, spasms and diarrhoea while long term usage can result in constipation and dehydration.

SFA added that apart from working with online e-commerce platforms to remove the listings of such products, it has also issued warnings to respective sellers to selling these four products with immediate effect.
