Grab S'pore to pilot group order among users within 4km to save on delivery & small fees
So you don't have to cajole colleagues into ordering bubble tea to reduce delivery fees.
Grab users can soon save on food delivery fees with an upcoming in-app feature that gives them option to join live orders from strangers in the vicinity.
The upcoming feature, "Shared Saver", will be piloted in Singapore this month, the ride-hailing giant announced in its inaugural GrabX product showcase at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach on Apr. 8.
Grab is also launching under-S$12 meal options for those ordering alone, teen accounts, and advance Grab bookings from the airport, amongst other new features.

The "Smart Saver" option displays live orders within 4 km of the user, with a time limit during which the user can opt to piggyback on the order.
Apart from enjoying lower delivery fees, the purchase will also have its small order fee waived.
The customers in the same "Smart Saver" order, who might be complete strangers, will enjoy doorstep delivery for their separate orders.
One can also opt to initiate a "Smart Saver" order on the checkout page.
According to Grab, its artificial intelligence (AI) will detect multiple orders in the vicinity from a same merchant and provide an option to start a "Smart Saver" order.
Once started, the app will broadcast the live order to users in the vicinity for 10 minutes, giving others a chance to join it.
Shared Saver will be piloted in Singapore from April, with plans to be rolled out in other cities by June.
Meals under S$12
Another new feature that can benefit customers ordering alone is GrabFood For One, which offers complete meal options for under S$12.
It will also solve the problem of single-item orders not meeting the minimum order value, Grab said.

This feature is now live on the Grab app as of Apr. 8.
Book Grab rides for teens
Another upcoming feature on the Grab app, Grab for Family / Teens, will allow parents and caregivers to book Grab rides for teenagers aged 13 to 17.
These come with extra safety features, such as prioritising top-rated driver-partners with proven track records, PIN verification before the ride starts, and mandatory AudioProtect, Grab's safety feature that records audio during the ride to detect any safety risks.
By linking a Teens account to the Grab for Family account, parents and caregivers can book rides for their teenage children, or the teens can do so on their own.

The Grab for Family / Teens feature will be launching from May onwards.
Make advance booking for airport pickup
Another useful feature that has rolled out on the app is an advance booking for Grab pickup from airports in Southeast Asia.
The bookings can be made up to seven days in advance and will secure a driver for airport pickup.
The pickup timing will be automatically adjusted in-app based on real-time flight data, that accounts for flight delays.

This ensures the driver will be there when customers arrive so they can transit seamlessly, according to Grab's release.
Currently, the Advance Booking (Airport Pickup) feature is available at the following airports:
- Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (Bali)
- Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (Jakarta)
- Yogyakarta International Airport (Yogyakarta)
- Juanda International Airport (Surabaya)
- Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (Kuala Lumpur)
- Phuket International Airport (Phuket)
- Seletar Airport (Singapore)
Grab is currently working with local airport authorities to roll this out at other airports in Southeast Asia — such as Changi Airport — later this year.
Grab leveraging AI to solve problems
In his speech at the event, Anthony Tan, the group chief executive officer and co-founder of Grab, highlighted Grab's partnership with AI research organisations, OpenAI and Anthropic, to leverage the latest artificial intelligence (AI) in their applications and services.
Grab is using AI to assist drivers and merchants, such as an AI-assisted voice reporting tool for drivers and algorithms to classify and split large orders, and an AI-powered chatbot to provide merchants with tailored insights for their businesses.
Tan said that these are part of Grab's commitment "to solve real problems, for real people".
