Current West Coast MP and National Development Minister Lee will serve as the new GRC’s anchor minister.
The two new candidates, lawyer Cassandra Lee and orthopaedic surgeon Hamid Razak, have been seen on PAP’s walkabouts around the estates of the GRC.
West Coast GRC MP Foo Mee Har was also at the press conference where she thanked residents and praised the two new faces.
Foo has been in West Coast GRC since 2011.
When asked about her potential retirement, Foo pointed out that the Prime Minister would announce it in time, but neither confirmed nor denied if she would be retiring.
Ong was not at the press conference. When asked about Ong, Lee said that Ong had made "significant contributions" and praised her efforts in helping to support the residents.
Ong represents Telok Blangah ward. However, the polling district in the Telok Blangah estate was moved to Tanjong Pagar GRC on the recommendation of the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee report.
Lee did not confirm if Ong would be a part of PAP's team for Tanjong Pagar GRC.
