S'porean boy, 7, dies after lorry collides with car in JB
The driver tested positive for methamphetamine.
A seven-year-old Singaporean boy has died following a traffic collision in Johor Bahru.
According to The Star, the accident involved a collision between a Singapore-registered car and a lorry at Jalan Pantai, in the direction of Permas Jaya, at 10:34pm on Mar. 16.
Lorry driver supposedly lost control of vehicle, boy thrown out of car
The Johor Bahru police was quoted as saying that the lorry driver, a 57-year-old man, had allegedly lost control of his vehicle, which resulted in the lorry veering onto the oncoming lane.
The lorry then collided with a car driven by a 44-year-old man.
The collision caused the boy, who seated behind, to be thrown out of the vehicle, the Johor Bahru police added.
He was taken to a private hospital and was subsequently pronounced dead at about 3am on Mar. 17.
Youngest person in the vehicle was two-years-old
A total of five people were in the car, with the youngest of them being two years old.
Four of them Singaporeans while the fifth was an Indonesian national.
The others apart from the seven-year-old are being treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital, The Star further reported.
A photo by the police showed that the side of the car had been damaged.
As for the lorry driver, the Johor Bahru police said he has tested positive for methamphetamine.
In addition, further checks have found that the driver had no driving licence or vocational licence and the vehicle's road tax has expired, according to the Johor Bahru police.
