Hawker stallholders will be getting S$600 rental support in celebration of Singapore's 60th birthday (SG60), said the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) in a joint press release.

Senior Minister of State of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore Koh Poh Koon also spoke about the rental support at the Committee of Supply (COS) debate on Mar. 4.

Hawker stallholders are a "critical part of Singapore’s treasured hawker culture, which has shaped our national identity and heritage over the years", the press release stated.

This one-off rental support will thus be given out to recognise the contributions of the hawker stallholders.

This year also marks the fifth anniversary of the inscription of Singapore’s Hawker Culture on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

S$600 rental support

The one-off rental support will be given to cooked food and market stallholders across hawker centres and markets managed by government and government-appointed operators, including those managed by NEA and NEA-appointed operators.

Existing registered stallholders with an active tenancy as of Feb. 18, 2025, will receive S$600 per stall.

It will be disbursed progressively from April 2025.

"As a nation, we share a joint responsibility to ensure that our hawker culture continues to thrive," Koh said.

"The government will lead by setting policies to support and sustain the hawker trade. This includes providing a conducive business environment, ensuring the trade remains attractive, and nurturing a new generation of hawkers."
