A seven-year-old Singaporean boy who died in a car accident in Johor Bahru (JB) was reportedly an avid football fan, and had planned to enrol in a Singapore-based football school.

The school is now raising funds on behalf of the family, as the boy's father and domestic helper were also seriously injured in the same accident.

Father and domestic helper also injured in accident

According to a Xiaohongshu post by Soaring Dreams FA, the boy, Noah, was the cousin of two of the school's former students.

"Although these two students have left the academy, they are still part of our "Soaring Dreams" family," said the school.

The school disclosed that the Mar. 16 accident which claimed Noah's life also grievously injured his father and domestic helper, whom the family is close to.

Noah's mother and sister were uninjured.

However, the family is burdened with the expenses for Noah's funeral, as well as medical bills and long-term rehabilitation costs for his father and domestic helper, the school added.

As such, the academy is organising a closed-door charity kickabout to raise funds for the family.

Was planning to join soccer school

Soaring Dreams FA's founder, surnamed Wang (transliteration), told Shin Min Daily News that Noah had planned to enrol in the school before his death.

"The whole family loves soccer, and it's truly unfortunate that Noah never got to achieve his wishes because of the accident," said Wang.

Wang said the family is independently raising funds, adding that he hopes to use his platform to help them.

At the charity kickabout, a PayNow QR code will be disseminated to solicit donations for the family.

The school will also remember Noah by gifting his family a custom jersey with his name printed on it.

"I hope I can do my part to help the family get through this difficult time," Wang said.

Noah's mother told Shin Min that her son was a well-behaved boy who was loved by everyone.

She is currently dealing with funeral matters for Noah while looking after her husband, who is in hospital.

Noah's mother added that their family is recovering from the trauma of the incident, and thanked everyone for their concern and support.

The incident

At 10:34pm on Mar. 16, a lorry collided with a Singapore-registered car at Jalan Pantai, causing a boy seated behind to be thrown out of the car.

The boy was taken to a private hospital but was later pronounced dead on Mar. 17.

The car's four other occupants were treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital in JB, The Star reported.

JB police said the lorry driver had tested positive for methamphetamine.

Further checks found that the driver had no driving licence or vocational licence and the vehicle's road tax has expired.

Editor's note: Post-publishing, the organiser informed Mothership that the fundraiser was a closed-door event. We have updated the article to reflect this.
