Tampines to get new cycling bridge by 2027, planning for new integrated transport hub underway
More things for Tampines residents to look forward to.
A five-year master plan for Tampines was unveiled on Saturday (Feb. 22).
Integrated transport hub
A media release from Tampines Town Council announced that agencies are studying plans for a new integrated transport hub at Tampines.
Currently, Tampines has four MRT stations and 44 bus services, making it a "20-minute town".
This means it would take no more than 20 minutes to travel to a neighbourhood centre by public transport and active modes of commuting such as cycling or walking.
According to the new master plan, a cycling bridge, underpass, and an additional 7.7km of cycling paths will be completed by 2027.

The bridge will allow cyclists to cross the Tampines Expressway (TPE) on journeys between Tampines and Pasir Ris.

The upcoming Tampines North Integrated Hub and Tampines North MRT station (on the Cross Island Line) will also complement the existing Tampines Regional Centre, currently comprising an MRT station and two bus interchanges.

A pedestrian-friendly town centre is "already taking shape" as LTA is currently exploring the possibility of a pedestrianised street connecting the malls in Tampines Town Centre and Tampines MRT station.
Tampines Regional Centre
The Tampines Regional Centre will also be revitalised with new amenities, community facilities and workspaces.
Alongside these plans to create liveable community spaces, Singapore’s first distributed district cooling network will be implemented at Tampines Regional Centre.
In 2025, seven existing buildings across the town centre will be connected to a distributed district cooling network, using 11 per cent less energy.
