Authorities are investigating.
A South Korean couple was caught on camera throwing a dog out of a window from the second storey of a residential building in Gimpo City.
The footage, uploaded by local animal protection group WeAct on Instagram on Feb. 13, shows the couple throwing the dog, followed by a child running down the stairs after it.
In their caption, WeAct shared that after a "six-hour standoff," the group was able to take ownership of the dog.
The incident happened on the evening of Feb. 10, according to WeAct.

WeAct said it gained ownership of the dog, which suffered severe leg injuries, after a "six-hour standoff".
They did not specify how they became aware of the incident.
The child, who had apparently been the dog’s closest companion, reportedly said a final goodbye and wished the dog happiness.

WeAct said it would "do everything possible to treat the dog".
Authorities investigating
On Feb. 18, local police announced that an investigation has been launched into the couple accused of throwing their dog from a second-floor window, according to The Korea Herald.
The Gimpo police plan to summon the couple for questioning and are reviewing legal options to determine if they violated the Animal Protection Act or committed child abuse.
