Actress Sora Ma gives house tour, featuring elements to remember her late husband

In a recent episode of Mediacorp's #JustSwipeLah, actress Sora Ma gave a house tour and an update on her life after her husband's passing.

Ma revealed on Dec. 11, 2024, that her husband, with whom she had been together for 11 years, had passed away.

From the video, viewers can see that Ma's newly renovated house is a blend of modern and minimalist styles.

When asked about the theme of her home, Ma mentioned that she didn’t do much research into which theme to adopt.

"A lot of the time, you have to  include your husband's opinion," Ma told the host Jernelle Oh.

However, after her husband's passing, Ma ultimately had to make decisions herself.

Despite this, she made no major changes to the plans she and her husband had, aside from converting his wardrobe space for her son.

Remembering her late husband

One of the standout features in Ma's house is her late husband's collection of vinyl records , displayed in her living room.

"He had loved buying vinyl records since he was a teenager," she said, adding that he had over a thousand of vinyl records.

"Maybe when the child is older, then you still have to tell him what kind of things his Daddy liked previously," she explained.

Besides vinyl records, Ma also chose gold-coloured basin and bidet as that would have been her husband's choice for the bathroom.

"I still want to keep the things he likes, and to match this thing, I spent a very long time buying this and that," she said.

An unfinished painting

The centrepiece of Ma's house is a large, unfinished painting that hangs in the hallway.

Ma and her late husband co-created this art piece.

Ma recalled how her husband used to praise her "to the sky" about her painting skills during the earlier part of their relationship.

She later discovered her husband's artistic flair in drawing, and they decided to do a painting together.

While her husband had already completed his part, Ma has yet to finish hers. That’s why she named the painting "An Unfinished Painting".

"I still have a lot of unfinished business, and this is one of them," she said.

Grateful for blessings

At the end of the video, Ma reflected with Oh on her new life as a mother.

She shared that their son, Skye, looks exactly like his father.

"I felt that he's like a little masterpiece of this continuation of love," Ma said.

She hopes to be there for her young son as much as possible while balancing her work commitments.

Ma also expressed her deep gratitude to her friends and family for their support over the last few months.

"So I think the reason why I received so much help during this period is also because he had accumulated a lot of blessings during his lifetime," Ma said in the video, her voice choked with emotion.

She believed she had received so much support thanks to her late husband, who had loved and helped many people.

"And I feel that these blessings are now being repaid to me."
