21 motorists aged between 31 and 68 will be charged for drink-driving offences on Feb. 20.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), these motorists were arrested between July 2024 and February 2025 after failing breathalyser tests during police checks.
Of the 21, three motorists were repeat offenders. One motorist also faces an additional charge of driving without due care or reasonable consideration.
If found guilty of driving while under the influence of alcohol, offenders may face a fine between S$5,000 and S$20,000 and a jail term of up to two years.
Repeat offenders will serve mandatory jail time if convicted.
Offenders may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
Driving against the flow of traffic
The motorist facing the additional charge is a 68-year-old man who drove against the traffic flow when entering a carpark along Lorong 1 Toa Payoh on Aug. 20, 2024.
When he could not enter the carpark through the gantry, the man reversed his vehicle and mounted the right-side road kerb.
Investigations revealed the man was a repeat drink driving offender.
If found guilty of driving without due care or reasonable consideration, the man could be fined up to S$1,500, a jail term of up to six months, or both.
Repeat offenders could be fined up to S$3,000, a jail term of up to 12 months, or both.
SPF reminded all motorists to abide by traffic laws to ensure the roads are safe for everyone.
