Murder suspect, 66, taken back to AMK flat crime scene where he lived with victim, 67
His next hearing date is scheduled for Jan. 24.
The suspect charged in the murder of 67-year-old Lim Suan Lian was taken back to the scene of the crime in Ang Mo Kio on Jan. 21.
Ng Chen Heng, 66, was arrested at the scene after the police received a call for assistance at a residential unit along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 at around 1:25am on Nov. 29.
The woman was found motionless in the unit upon arrival and pronounced dead by officers.
Preliminary investigations reveal that both parties were known to each other, though the exact relationship between the two is unknown.
However, Shin Min Daily News reported that the suspect and victim cohabited in the same flat where the scene of the crime occurred.
The victim was living alone in the flat and the suspect subsequently moved in, a neighbour said.
The Straits Times reported that it understands that the couple were in a relationship, but not married.
A resident claimed the couple used to quarrel and their exchanges were audible, resulting in the neighbour calling the police.
Brought to crime scene
Ng was escorted by officers to the crime scene at around 9:07am on Jan. 21, reported Lianhe Zaobao.
Wearing a red shirt, shorts and a pair of transparent flip-flops, he was reportedly frowning as he followed an officer to the elevator.
He was then escorted into the unit to answer investigators' questions.
During the investigation, the police set up cordons at both ends of the fourth-floor corridor and deployed officers to assist affected neighbours in entering and exiting their homes.
The site visit took about two hours before Ng was escorted back to the police car.
His next hearing date is scheduled for Jan. 24.
If found guilty of murder, he could be sentenced to death.
