Alfa Romeo & Jeep dealership in S'pore to close by June 2025
Affected staff have been redeployed to other brands within its parent company.
Capella Auto, the sole agent for Alfa Romeo and Jeep, will be closing its operations in June 2025.
The company will continue to offer maintenance, repair, and warranty claims for existing customers until mid-2025.
Affected staff have been redeployed to other brands within the Komoco Group—a multi-franchise dealer of which Capella Auto is a part—with one salesperson remaining to handle inquiries.
Both brands struggled to gain traction in the past three years
Both brands struggled to gain traction in the past three years, selling fewer than 25 units each annually.
In comparison, BMW sold an annual average of 4,047 units from 2022 to 2024.
Problems appeared to arise from brand positioning, where both brands' positionings were not sufficiently strong and clear enough to achieve mass acceptance in Singapore.
Senior lecturer Victor Kwan from the Singapore University of Social Sciences, told The Straits Times Alfa Romeo and Jeep are regarded alongside more mass-market European brands such as Citroen and Renault in Singapore.
In December 2024, Capella Auto moved from 1 Chang Charn Road in Bukit Merah to 30 Leng Kee Road, where their maintenance workshop is located.
Context
Alfa Romeo and Jeep are part of the global automotive group Stellantis, which owns other brands including Fiat, Maserati, and Opel.
Capella Auto distributes only Alfa Romeo and Jeep, while its parent company Komoco Group distributes brands such as Hyundai, Maserati, and Ferrari.
Capella Auto became the new distributor for Alfa Romeo in April 2023, after the previous distributor EuroAutomobile announced it was giving up the distributorship in Singapore in 2022.
