S'pore man, 74, sings operatic renditions of pop songs like 'Expresso' & 'Fe!n'

A 74-year-old man in Singapore has charmed the internet with his operatic renditions of pop songs, such as "Expresso" by American singer Sabrina Carpenter.

In a now-viral TikTok video, the man belted a line from the song: "I'm working late, cuz' I'm a singer".

He ended the video saying: "For real, no cap".

Many in the comments section were impressed, saying he "ate" and "popped off".

The man even had a go at rapper Travis Scott's "Fe!n", after a request from a fan.

Speaking to Mothership, the man, whose surname is Low, shared that he is an amateur opera singer.

Despite being at an amateur level, Low has performed at local venues such as the Victoria Concert Hall.

When asked what inspired him to set up his TikTok account, he said that he hopes to introduce the "Bel canto singing technique" to the younger generation.

However, it was his daughter's idea to do opera renditions of popular pop songs, he said.

He didn’t expect his videos to go "so viral" but admitted it has been a "fun and amusing experience".

The Singaporean is also a freelance language tutor, with videos on teaching French on his TikTok account.
