You've probably heard of the Internet-famous baby pygmy hippo, Moo Deng.

But did you know that Singapore has its own moist, dewy-complexioned semiaquatic mammals too?
Meet Thabo and Miata, the two youngest pygmy hippos at the Singapore Zoo.
Thabo was born in 2022, and Miata in 2021, making them two and three years old respectively.

What they're like
According to their keepers, Miata is the more active of the pair.
The calf loves the rain and can often be spotted running around her exhibit on rainy days.
She is also curious and likes engaging in enrichment activities, such as prying open wrapped banana leaves to uncover hidden pieces of carrot.

Meanwhile, Thabo's favourite activities are eating and sleeping. (Relatable.)
He particularly enjoys eating leaves, which comprise the majority of his diet.
However, he also eats grass, hay, carrots, lettuce, and baby corn.

No livestream, but you can still visit
Unlike Moo Deng, there isn't a 24-hour livestream for Thabo and Miata.
However, you can still visit Miata — now a teenager — in her favourite muddy playground at the Singapore Zoo's pygmy hippo exhibit.

Thabo, on the other hand, is currently being prepared in an off-exhibit area for a transfer to the Taipei Zoo.
There, he'll be paired up with a mate, and hopefully make a couple of babies of his own.
Good luck, Thabo!
