ECP pile-up: Video shows moment of impact involving 6 cars & 3 taxis
Two vehicles were seen simultaneously elevated at the moment of impact.
Nine vehicles were involved in a pile-up on the East Coast Parkway (ECP) on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, the police confirmed.
The police said they were alerted to the accident at about 5:15pm.
The accident, which affected two of the right-most lanes, involved six cars and three taxis along the ECP exit towards Changi.
A 67-year-old male taxi driver, a 76-year-old male taxi passenger, and a 34-year-old female car driver were conveyed conscious to the hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Video footage
Video footage has emerged showing the moment of impact.
Based on the footage, two cars were seen elevated simultaneously and stacked on top of the other cars at the moment of impact.
It also appeared that multiple vehicles at the tail-end of the pile-up collided almost at the same time.
Videos shot in the aftermath of the accident showed the extent of the pile-up.
The accident caused significant congestion along the ECP, as the accident occurred before the Tanjong Katong Road exit, and the jam extended till the Fort Road exit.
By about 6:30pm, the congestion had stretched till the Ophir Road entrance.
