Cat A category COE hits 2024 record high of S$103,799
The biggest increase was for the Category B.
Certificate of entitlement (COE) premiums are up for most categories in the latest tender exercise on Oct. 9, 2024.
Cat A
The COE premium for Category A, for smaller, less powerful cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, as well as for EVs with up to 110 kilowatts of power, went up to S$103,799.
This was a 5.4 per cent increase, or S$5,275, from the S$98,524 recorded at the last tender exercise on Sep. 18, 2024.
This is also the first time that premiums for the category has crossed the S$100,000 mark in 2024.
It last peaked in October 2023 at S$106,000.
Cat B
The premium for Category B, for bigger, more powerful cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp, as well as EVs with more than 110 kilowatts of power, rose to S$116,002.
This was a 5.5 per cent increase, or S$6,001, from the S$110,001 premium set at the last round.
Open category
The premium for the open category COE price was S$116,000, which is 2.6 per cent, or S$2,896, more than the S$113,104 premium set at the last tender.
Open category certificates can be used to register any vehicle type, excluding motorcycles, but they are almost exclusively used for larger, more powerful cars.
The motorcycle COE premium ended up at S$10,001, an increase of 1 per cent from S$9,900.
The commercial vehicle COE premium also rose to S$75,009, an increase of 1.4 per cent from the previous premium of S$74,000.
