With Singapore well into its monsoon period, local critters and birds are expected to set up their nests in sheltered areas safe from rain and wind.

One spotted dove mother chose a spot that surprised human dwellers — behind a wall fan.

Spotted dove built a nest behind a wall fan

The series of photos were uploaded by user Jason Chua onto the Facebook group Wildlife Sightings Singapore.

"What to do?" He captioned to crowd source for suggestions on his next steps.

One of the photos shows a spotted dove perched on its nest built behind the wire guard and the back cover of a tilted-down KDK wall fan.

Chua shared in the comments that the fan is functional but has not been used for a month.

Upon further inspection, the dove had laid two eggs in its nest. One egg had already hatched into a fuzzy, slightly yellow-coloured chick.

Sh*t hit the fan

Many commenters advised Chua to wait for the dove to abandon its nest before cleaning or using the fan again.

In the meantime, the best course of action would be to leave the bird and her brood alone.

One of the commenters made a "sh*t hit the fan" joke, obviously.

Spotted doves

Spotted doves are one of the most common birds in Singapore, and get their name from the speckled patch around their neck.

They can commonly be found in residential and urban areas.

They usually build their nests above ground in shrubs, trees or even urban structures.

They will typically lay one or two whitish-coloured eggs.
