Workers' Party MP Jamus Lim was in the hospital for pneumonia over the weekend, a few days after he was seen sniffling in Parliament while delivering a speech on Oct. 6.

In a video that circulated online, he paused repeatedly during his speech to wipe his nose until PAP MP Diana Pang offered him a tissue.

"That sniffling eventually developed into a bad case of Influenza A, before culminating in full-blown pneumonia," the MP for Sengkang GRC said in a Facebook post on Oct. 12.

Lim explained that he had initially only intended to take the rest of that week off, but then his blood oxygen level fell to the low 90s over the weekend.

The healthy range is between 95 and 100 per cent.

He had to check into a hospital, and has been "stuck there" since.

Addressing his residents at Anchorvale, Lim said he will be unable to attend his regular MP duties during this time, which includes a meet-the-people session (MPS) on the night of Oct. 12.

His weekly house visits, estate walks, and coffeeshop chit-chats will also be halted while he remains in the hospital.

However, the Oct. 12 MPS will go ahead, thanks to Sengkang volunteers.

Lim added that he would continue to clear all appeal letters and catch up on his email backlog, but would appreciate the residents' patience in the meantime.
