Boy suffered head injury
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, the boy's mother, identified only as Liu, said she had been at the food court with her three children at around 10:30am.
She was pushing a stroller carrying her two-year-old daughter while her seven-year-old daughter walked beside her. Her 10-year-old son was a few steps ahead when the incident occurred.
Liu said she suddenly heard a loud bang and turned around to find the signboard had fallen.
Her son was allegedly struck by the falling signboard and suffered a head injury.
According to Liu, the boy's head was bleeding heavily when he got up and ran towards her.
Members of the public who witnessed the incident came forward to help, providing tissues to stop the bleeding.
The boy was later found to have suffered a five-centimetre wound on his head that required stitches, as well as a four-centimetre abrasion.
Liu added that doctors advised her to monitor her son for 72 hours following the incident. He is also expected to undergo further examination by a neurosurgeon.
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they received a call for assistance at 11 Rivervale Crescent at about 10:30am on Jun. 20.
SCDF conveyed one person to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.
