A man chugged a whole bottle of Moutai in less than three minutes before boarding a high-speed rail train in Chongqing, China.
Moutai, also known as Kweichow Moutai, is a Chinese liquor with variations that range from about 38 per cent to 53 per cent alcohol by volume.
Opened
According to local media, the man had apparently brought an already opened bottle of Moutai before boarding a train at the Chongqing East railway station.
He was stopped by staff during security checks as it violated railway regulations.
The man complied and proceeded to drink the liquor in less than three minutes to avoid wasting it.
He then passed security checks and boarded the train.
In China, passengers are allowed to bring bottled liquor that is intact, clearly labelled, and has an alcohol by volume of between 24 per cent and 70 per cent, with a total volume not exceeding 3,000 millilitres, onto trains.
Opened liquor, bulk liquor, homemade liquor, and liquor with damaged packaging are prohibited.
Continued drinking
The man’s wife, surnamed Zhong, said her husband frequently drank.
He apparently did not cause any trouble or act inappropriately at the station or on the train.
After arriving at their destination, he continued drinking with his friends.
She also added that they would check relevant regulations before travelling in the future to avoid similar situations.
