The Malaysia ringgit weakened to a six-month low against the Singapore dollar on Jun. 19, with the exchange rate touching RM3.20 per S$1.

Foreign exchange charts showed that this was the ringgit's weakest level against the Singapore dollar since November 2025.

The currency had previously weakened to RM3.33 per Singapore dollar in June 2025.

U.S. Federal Reserve

The drop comes after the U.S. Federal Reserve's announcement on Jun. 17 that the federal funds rate would remain unchanged at 3.5 to 3.75 per cent.

Following that, the US dollar index rose about 1 per cent, CNN reported.

This is expected to put pressure on Asian currencies.

The Singapore dollar is currently trading at S$1.29 per US$1 while the Malaysian ringget is trading at RM4.14 per US$1.
