They believed that juice from the pineapple might have leaked onto the floor and seeped into the tile surface.

When they collected the keys to their new home, Erica's family did what many have in Singapore — roll a pineapple on the floor from the front door, a ritual to welcome prosperity into a new space.
But they made a mistake of leaving the house with the pineapple still on the floor.
Three days later, Erica's husband went back to the place and saw a large stain on the floor.
"We were quite shocked when we saw the stain," Erica, a content creator, told Mothership.
They believed that due to Singapore's hot weather, juice from the pineapple might have leaked onto the floor.
As pineapples are acidic, the juice possibly seeped into the tile surface and caused the stain, Erica added.

A common incident
Erica explained that her family had thought it would be fine to leave the pineapple on the floor for a few days.
"It never crossed my mind that the pineapple could end up damaging the flooring," she said.
But this incident has apparently happened to many other families.
A fengshui master who was there when Erica's husband discovered the stain said that he had seen many such cases before, similarly ending in stains on the floor.
Erica said she posted about her experience on Instagram to warn others not to make the same mistake, as the pineapple-rolling ritual is practised by many when moving into a new home.
She advised others to remove the pineapple after the ritual, place it on a tray instead, or wrap the pineapple with a thick cloth before rolling it around the house.
Removing the stain
As of the time of writing, the stain is unfortunately still on the floor.
"We tried cleaning the area ourselves, but the mark is still visible," Erica said.
Her family has been seeking professional advice to determine whether the affected area can be restored without changing the tiles.
They hope to avoid having to replace the affected tile because they worry the new one might not have the same pattern as the rest.
Erica believes professional polishing can solve the issue, but the family has yet to engage any service as they have not started renovations on the house.
They plan to move in a few months later after renovations are done, so there appears to be no big rush at the moment.
