Durian prices in Malaysia have fallen to their lowest levels in recent years.
This is due to a surge in durian supply caused by large-scale fruit drops across various states, Guangming Daily reported.
As durians from different regions enter their peak harvest season, prices are expected to drop further by about 10 per cent in the coming weeks.
Among the durians is the Black Thorn, which reportedly hit an all-time low price.
The prices of the Musang King, also known as Mao Shan Wang, and other varieties have also fallen.
Lai Jingqun (transliterated), the owner of 668 Durian King in Sanbaya, South Kedah, told Guangming that the Black Thorn durians currently sold at his stall are priced between RM13 (S$4.12) and RM55 (S$17.42), depending on their size.
He noted that compared to the same period in 2025, durian prices have dropped by about 20 per cent to 30 per cent overall, marking a rare low in recent years.
