While out on bail for other offences, a teenager stole four cars in Singapore and took them out for joyrides.

The teen, now 19, was out on bail at that time, after injuring two pedestrians while riding an electric bicycle and stealing a toy car, The Straits Times reported.

On Apr. 8, 2025, the teenager pleaded guilty to numerous offences, including theft, housebreaking, and causing grievous hurt.

He cannot be named as he committed some of the offences when he was under 18.

The court called for reports to assess the teen's suitability for probation and informative training, ST reported.

He will be sentenced in May 2025.

Multiple offences

In March 2023, the teen rode an electric bicycle in Sengkang and hit two pedestrians, causing them fractures.

In July 2023, he climbed a fence at Sims Avenue and stole a radio-controlled toy car worth S$3,000 from a shop.

He then went to play with it on a road in Geylang, ST added.

Later, the teen came across his photo as the shop owner posted the CCTV footage of him while scrolling on Instagram.

ST stated that the teen was afraid it would get traced back to him, so he returned the toy car the next day at around 3:30am.

The deputy public prosecutor said the teen also left behind a note, apologising for stealing the toy and asking for the matter to be settled privately, ST wrote.

However, she added that the teen intentionally changed the contact number he left behind so that the shop owner could not reach him.

It was later found that the toy was damaged and required S$960 in repairs.

Joy rides

After he was caught, the teen stole four cars he found in Kim Chuan Drive while out on bail in July 2024.

He stole two Hondas, one BMW, and a Porsche, where he found some of the vehicles unlocked with the keys inside, according to ST.

He took the cars out for rides despite not having a driver's licence and even dropped a friend home on two occasions.

He then returned three of the cars to Kim Chuan Drive.

He left the fourth car in Defu Lane when he could not restart it.
