2 passers-by rescue girl, 17, from Punggol multistorey car park 5th floor ledge
The girl was apprehended under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
A 17-year-old girl in distress was found sitting on the fifth floor ledge of Block 325 Sumang Walk multi-storey car park at around 11:45am on Jan. 7, 2025.
In response, a passer-by held onto her from the inside of the building and managed to pull her to safety with the help of another man.
The passers-by's heroic actions were caught on camera by an onlooker, who subsequently shared the footage with Mothership.
What video showed
According to the video, the girl, who was not wearing footwear, could be heard crying while seated on the ledge.
At the same time, a passer-by, dressed in a green top, tried to hold onto her by extending the upper part of his body over the railing.
Although the girl tried to break free by pushing his hands away multiple times, the passer-by did not let go of her.
The impasse only came to an end after another passer-by, dressed in a white top, arrived at the scene, climbed over the railing, and held onto the girl from the front.
Collectively, the two men managed to pull her back into the building.
Before returning to the car park, the man in white also picked up a black object, believed to be the girl's belongings, from the ledge and brought it inside.
The two passers-by continued attending to the girl thereafter.
Girl apprehended
In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed it received a call for assistance regarding the incident.
The girl was apprehended under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act.
