Certis parking warden caught beating red light & making illegal U-turn in Balestier
Ride like everyone is watching.
Who watches the watchers?
Well, the people, apparently.
A Certis parking warden was caught on dashboard camera breaking at least two traffic rules at one time.
This was after he beat the red light to make an illegal U-turn at the Balestier Road and Thomson Road junction.
According to the video uploaded online, the incident occurred on Jan. 8 at about 11:40am.
What video showed
The video showed the parking warden approaching the junction when the traffic light had already turned red for several seconds.
When he made the U-turn, pedestrians were already crossing the road and vehicles travelling along Thomson Road and making a left turn onto Balestier Road had the right of way.
A "No U-Turn" sign was clearly visible beneath the traffic light.
Certis response
In response to media queries, Certis said it will take disciplinary action against the parking warden.
"Certis is aware of a video circulating online where a parking warden was caught flouting traffic rules. Following our investigations, necessary disciplinary action will be taken against the officer. We require our officers to abide by all laws in Singapore, including traffic laws, when carrying out their duties. We hold our officers to the highest standards and will not hesitate to bring errant officers to task.
We thank the member of public for bringing this matter to our attention. We urge all members of public to report any incidents concerning our officers to Certis through our customer feedback channels."
Mothership has contacted the authorities for comment.
