63,000 people attended Taylor Swift's Mar. 9 concert, largest show in S'pore: Sports Hub
This contributed to the 50 per cent increase in event attendance at Sports Hub in 2024 from last year's numbers.
Did you attend Taylor Swift's "The Eras Tour" concert in Singapore at the Singapore Sports Hub on Mar. 9, 2024?
If so, you had attended the largest concert ever staged in the country, said Kallang Alive Sport Management (KASM) in a Dec. 18 press release.
According to KASM, which manages Sports Hub, a total of 63,000 concertgoers attended the show, which took place on the final day of Swift's six-night performance.
50% increase in event attendance
Swift's concerts were one of the factors that contributed to increased event attendance at Sports Hub in 2024, which jumped by 50 per cent from last year's numbers.
According to KASM, Sports Hub hosted a lineup of events that "captivated both local and international audiences" this year.
These events included five major sold-out concerts staged by Mayday, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, and Swift, as well as shows held by Andy Lau, Jay Chou, and K-pop artists.
At the same time, Sports Hub also hosted several live sporting events, such as FIFA World Cup qualifiers and World Table Tennis (WTT) Singapore Smash.
In September 2024, Sports Hub also hosted the first Papal Mass in Singapore since 1986, where Pope Francis celebrated mass with around 50,000 attendees.
KASM said at times when there were multiple events at the precinct, its team had managed crowds that peaked at "over 80,000 people".
New additions & highest level of training activity
However, Sports Hub's increased event attendance was only one reason that KASM considered 2024 to be "a watershed year".
In April 2024, Sports Hub welcomed two new additions, namely the Kallang Tennis Hub and the Kallang Football Hub.
The precinct also had its "highest-ever level of training activity" this year, with Team Singapore athletes accumulating over 40,000 hours of training across various land and aquatic sports.
What to expect in 2025
According to KASM, Sports Hub will start off 2025 by hosting "Let's Celebrate 2025" in partnership with Mediacorp on Dec. 31, 2024.
Besides being Sports Hub's "first countdown party to welcome the New Year", the event is also part of Singapore's One Countdown 2025, which kicks off the celebrations for the country's 60th birthday.
At midnight of Jan. 1, 2025, visitors can also look forward to "Singapore's longest single countdown fireworks display over the Kallang Basin", said KASM.
Following the party, Sports Hub will host a series of sports events, including the inaugural edition of the Singapore Tennis Open and World Aquatic Championships 2025.
In terms of lifestyle events, the precinct will stage concerts by artists such as Mayday, Seventeen, and Joker Xue, as well as performances, such as Disney On Ice.
