S'pore woman, 29, dies in motorcycle accident along M'sia highway on Christmas Eve
A 28-year-old Malaysian man who was riding the motorcycle was also pronounced dead at the scene.
A 29-year-old woman from Singapore has died on Dec. 24 following a motorcycle collision at the North-South Expressway in Malaysia.
According to The Star, the woman was travelling as a pillion towards Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru.
Muar police Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed in a Dec. 24 statement on Facebook that a Malaysian man, 28, who was riding the motorcycle, also died in the collision.
Crashed into a road divider
According to Raiz, the incident occurred at the 130.1km northbound mark of the expressway at 5:24pm.
The man reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a road divider.
He fell onto the right lane of the expressway from the impact, while the woman was thrown into the opposite southbound right lane.
The man sustained injuries to the head, right arm, and body, while the pillion suffered severe head and body injuries and also lost her right leg.
The pair was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local police have urged the public to be careful when driving and comply with the speed limit on expressways, especially during festive seasons and school holidays.
Investigations are ongoing.
