Paya Lebar temperature hits 36.2°C, highest December record in S'pore history
Singapore's getting hot and wet.
On Dec. 7, 2024, temperatures peaked at 36.2°C in Paya Lebar, Singapore.
This is Singapore's highest daily maximum temperature ever recorded for December, The National Environment Agency (NEA) wrote in a Facebook post.
The previous record was 35.9°C, taken on Dec. 6, 2016.
The heat comes after a wet and wild November, where the average rainfall was 419.0mm, the highest recorded for November since 1980.
According to NEA "it was 47.4 per cent above the month’s long term-average, and exceeded the previous record of 390.1mm set in Nov. 1992."
Afternoon thundery showers are expected for the coming week.

Whilst temperatures have dropped today (Dec. 10), with Paya Lebar hitting 31.0C, Singapore is getting warmer.
Singapore’s annual average temperature was recorded as 28.2°C in 2023, making it the fourth warmest year on record.
The last decade (2014 - 2023) has been Singapore’s warmest decade on record at 28.06°C, making it 0.33°C warmer than the previous decade (2004 - 2013).
