Former NCT member Taeil allegedly sexually assaulted drunk woman with 2 other men
He is facing special quasi-rape charges.
Former K-pop boy group NCT member Moon Taeil, 30, has been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman along with two acquaintances, reported Chosun Ilbo.
The singer reportedly faces special quasi-rape charges and was referred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on Sep. 12.
However, the prosecution has yet to summon him for questioning.
Special quasi-rape involves committing "aggravated sexual assault using a weapon or when two or more individuals collectively attack a victim who is incapacitated and unable to resist", Chosun Ilbo reported.
Moon could face a minimum sentence of seven years in jail and up to life imprisonment if convicted.
Reported to police in June
Moon was first reported to the police for the alleged sexual assault in June and brought in for questioning two months later, on Aug. 28.
It is reported that none of the acquaintances involved in the alleged assault are celebrities.
Left K-pop group
News of the singer's alleged crime first broke on Aug. 28, along with reports of him leaving NCT.
His agency SM Entertainment had then said it recognised "the severity of the situation" and had determined that Moon could no longer continue his team activities.
Several team and fellow members' activities following the announcement were postponed in light of the news.
Moon's group members were later found to have unfollowed Moon on their social media pages.
On social media, enraged fans also posted videos of themselves burning merchandise related to Moon.
