HDB corridor decorated with dismembered limbs props & fake blood for Halloween
Acceptable or too much?
Do you like Halloween?
Do you like it too much?
So much so you might spook other people with your enthusiasm?
Well, it appears one household residing in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block of flats might have gone the whole nine yards.
Props all along the corridor
Props of dismembered hands, legs, knives, meat hooks, spiders, and red stains on pieces of cloth to mimic blood were hung along the 27th-floor corridor of the block leading to one unit.
A video of the Halloween decorations to usher in the ancient Celtic festival was put up on Reddit but has since been taken down.
The exact location was not disclosed, but the unit numbers on the floor were visible at the lift landing.
Responses
Responses to the video were mixed.
Those who favoured such decorations said Singaporeans can afford to let loose once in a while and partake in festivities without complaining.
But those who frowned upon it cited safety reasons and how they might be fire hazards.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), a minimum clear escape passage of 1.2m clearance is to be maintained along the common corridor.
This distance refers to the width of the corridor.
This is to "balance fire safety and practical needs", as shoe or movable clothing racks are allowed along the corridor, SCDF noted.
Beyond safety concerns, commenters also pointed out that such decorations might be too scary for young children and questioned if permission was sought from other households on the same level before proceeding with it.
