Enjoying the rain over the last few days?

Good news; thundery showers are expected over parts of Singapore in the afternoon on most days in the first fortnight of October 2024.

On a few days, the showers may extend into the night, according to an Oct. 1 media advisory issued by the Meteorological Service Singapore.

The total rainfall for the first half of the month is forecast to be above average over most parts of the island.

34° days possible

Despite the wet weather, daily maximum temperatures are likely to range between 32°C and 34°C on most days in the first fortnight of October 2024.

On a few days, the daily maximum temperature may exceed 34°C slightly.

Similar to second fortnight of Sep. 2024

The weather forecast for the first half of October 2024 is similar to the weather conditions observed in the second fortnight of September.

Over the last two weeks, thundery showers fell over parts of Singapore in the late morning and afternoon on most days.

Sumatra squalls also brought widespread thundery showers and gusty winds over the island on a few nights.

In particular, the squall on Sep. 17 resulted in maximum wind gusts ranging from about 40km/h to 80km/h, with East Coast Parkway registering wind gusts up to 83.2km/h.

However, the wet weather did not seem to bring down Singapore's temperature significantly, as daily maximum temperatures in the second half of September were above 33°C on most days.

The highest daily maximum temperature of 35.7°C was recorded at Ang Mo Kio on Sep. 22.
