Home buyers participating in the October Build-to-Order (BTO) sales exercise can wait less than three years for their flats as the Housing Development Board (HDB) launched 2,085 flats in Bukit Batok and Sengkang.

A total of 2,876 units with shorter waiting times (SWT) were launched in 2024, working towards HDB's goal of launching 2,000 to 3,000 (SWT) flats by 2025, a press release dated Oct. 6 said.

The sales exercise in October – the final exercise in 2024 – was preceded by the one in June where 1,350 flats were launched in Woodlands and Tampines.

Projects in Bukit Batok and Sengkang

A wide range of flat types across the three projects in Bukit Batok and Sengkang will be offered during the exercise in October, with nearly 70 per cent of them comprising four and five-room flats.

The flats in West BrickVille@Bukit Batok will be completed within two years.

The Fernvale Sails and Fernvale Oasis BTO projects in Sengkang will have a wait time of two years and three months, and two years and nine months respectively.

October sales exercise

Other projects will also be offered during the October sales exercise.

They include projects in towns/estates such as Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Geylang, Jurong West, Kallang/Whampoa, Pasir Ris and Woodlands.

HDB Chief Executive Officer Tan Meng Dui credited the success of offering nearly 3,000 SWT flats in 2024 to close cooperation with various government agencies, which allowed for sites to be made available earlier so that construction can start months of even a year ahead of the project launch date.

Instead of waiting until the sales launch for flat applications to come in, HDB starts construction as soon as the sites become available, Tan said.

There are four times as many SWT flats in 2024 compared to 2023 to benefit those with "more pressing housing needs", Tan added.

"HDB will press on to deliver affordable and quality flats safely, with a certain proportion of SWT flats every year. This would help to better support the home ownership aspirations of Singaporeans.”
