Just one year short of becoming a centenarian, former two-time Malaysia prime minister Mahathir Mohamad is still proving that he's not that old.

This was after he drove at speeds of up to 154kmh around Sepang International Circuit, as seen in a recent Facebook video posted on Sep. 23.

Accelerating up to 154km/h

The video started with Mahathir being driven around SIC in an Audi Q5 SUV, while the chairman of the motorsport race track, Mohamed Azman Yahya asked the former leader questions about the place's history.

SIC, like Proton, a homegrown car manufacturer in Malaysia, was established during Mahathir's first stint as prime minister.

Near the end of the video, the 99-year-old Mahathir was seen taking the wheel.

As the camera zoomed in on the car's speedometer, Mahathir was accelerating at speeds in excess of 150kmh.

Turned 99 this year

The politician turned 99 on Jul. 10.

Mahathir was Malaysia and held the title of the world's oldest prime minister when he took power after Pakatan Harapan's shock victory in the 2018 election, ending an unbroken reign of Barisan Nasional rule.

Mahathir remains active in both politics and social media, making international trips and regularly sharing his thoughts on Malaysian and global affairs.

He and his sons were recently confirmed as connected to an anti-graft probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
