After final flight before retirement, SIA cabin crew of 34 years gets warm welcome at Changi Airport
So sweet.
A man arrived at Changi Airport to cheers and applause — after wrapping up his final flight as a member of the Singapore Airlines (SIA) cabin crew.
His loved ones stood outside the arrival concourse, holding handwritten signs that spelt out: "Happy Retirement Day!"
They also chanted his name — Wahid — while clapping and cheering.
"Eh alamak, malu (embarrassing) seh," he said, laughing.
"Thank you, aiyah."
Heartwarming scene
The heartwarming scene was shared online in a Sep. 24 TikTok.
Wahid had apparently been an SIA cabin crew for 34 years, according to the video's caption.
In a previous video, he shared that the retirement came "after 34 years of doing what [he was] passionate about".
He was also presented with a bouquet of flowers and a handwritten card by his colleagues, celebrating his final flight: SQ637 between Narita Airport and Changi Airport.
In the comments section, one user said that he had flown with him "many times".
"Such a nice guy!" he said.
A number of people also reported having worked with him previously, with one former cabin crew saying that he had been "super humble and nurturing".
Another called him the "coolest chief in town".
"I remembered him on my flight and he mentioned he was going to retire soon," one person said. "Happy retirement!"
Awwwww.
