TikTok Video Creator - Freelancer/Intern
WHY join us?
Mothership is a Singapore-based digital media company focusing on news, current affairs, and entertainment for tomorrow's generations.
As we embark on our next phase of growth, we invite passionate, talented and dynamic individuals to join us.
You will have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside our key leaders and industry practitioners, and to witness the impact of your work on the millions of people whom we serve every day.
WHAT is this role about?
If bad content makes you tik, you live for the gram for reels, and don’t mind working in shorts (and when you read that, you didn’t immediately think about what you’re wearing below waist-level), let’s tok.
Short form video content is an emerging ubiquitous format defining today’s generation and Mothership wants to be part of the conversation.
As a freelance/intern TikTok video creator, you will work with a team of fellow content creators, using the video medium to entertain, engage and inform our audiences on emerging platforms like TikTok, Reels, and YouTube shorts.
This is a short-term contract position, with the option of extending to a full-time role. The role is also open to candidates beyond those based in Singapore.
A snippet of what you can expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis:
- Be in the thick of content on social media platforms 24/7. (Bonus points if you are a Douyin and Xiaohongshu connoisseur).
- Quickly spot news stories/topics that are trending and pitch them to the team leads.
- Actively think of creative ways to convert news into short form video content.
- Edit videos in a timely manner.
WHO should consider?
No matter which generation you’re from, we want you as long as you know what makes short-form content work well on the various social media platforms.
Ideally, you are chronically online, and deeply embrace all social media platforms including, but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu.
You have an excellent news sense — you know what's going on in the world before it even trends and goes viral. You appreciate the quick and evolving nature of short form videos in today’s day and age.
You are a self-starter who can work quickly and independently.
Technical requirements:
- Ability to commit for a 3-6 month period from February 2024.
- Proficient in Canva.
- Basic video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or InShot.
- Excellent news sense and has a good grasp of trending topics of the day.
- Firm understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms including, but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu.
- Crucially, you must possess the mental stamina, tenacity, and agility to work in an intensely dynamic, fast-paced, and competitive media environment.
