S'porean actor Ayden Sng lands supporting role in Netflix's China historical drama series

Singaporean actor Ayden Sng has landed a role in Netflix's new China drama series, "Perfect Match".

He plays the supporting role of Yan Zimei, a wealthy character with negative traits and intentions.

The series has reached Netflix's Top 10 TV Programs in Singapore.

Sng shared still images on Instagram of himself in a Chinese historical costume, riding a horse and mentioned in the caption that "Perfect Match" marks his first role in a Chinese production.

He captioned the post "baby steps," marking his debut in the Chinese drama industry.

In November 2023, Sng signed with a Chinese agency to represent him in China.

He travelled to China in February 2024 to film "Perfect Match", his first period drama.

Reflecting on the filming process in an April 2024 Instagram post, Sng described the two months of shooting as a blur, with many new experiences and challenges.

He noted that while the reality of filming was difficult, he believes that "it is through the most onerous challenges that there is the most growth".

Despite the tough circumstances, he found the experience immensely rewarding and energising.

About "Perfect Match"

Perfect Match is a Chinese period romance comedy set during the Northern Song Dynasty. The story revolves around the five daughters of a wealthy family in Bianjing, each seeking true love.

The series stars Lu Yuxiao, Wang Xingyue, Ni Hongjie, Liu Xiening and Dong Sicheng among others.

Sng appears in episodes 11 and 12 of the series.

Expanding into the industry

In addition to "Perfect Match", Sng is also set to star in another Chinese fantasy drama genre series.

Sng posted photos on Instagram with Chinese producer and screenwriter Yu Zheng at Hengdian Film Studio in Zhejiang province, sharing that he grew up watching Chinese fantasy shows but never imagined he would star in one.

This marks his second collaboration with Yu Zheng, who is known for producing the hit series "Story of Yanxi Palace".

The new project will also feature Chinese actors Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng.
