Woman, 62, allegedly swaps expired baby food with fresh ones at 2 FairPrice Finest stores, gets arrested
The woman is believed to have acted alone.

Dozens of fresh baby food products were apparently replaced with expired ones at two supermarkets in Singapore.
A 62-year-old woman has since been arrested.
In an Instagram post on Jan. 20, Lilo, a brand selling natural seasoning powders for babies, revealed that they were notified by FairPrice Finest at Wisteria Mall in Yishun that their products were found to be expired.
Confused by this apparent lapse in quality control, the brand said they were "deeply concerned" given that their products are typically returned to the vendor before reaching expiry to ensure freshness, and with stock regularly checked and replenished.
In response, Lilo carried out further checks at other outlets and discovered more expired products at the FairPrice Finest at Block 712 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
Lilo sells natural seasoning powders for babies, such as anchovies, mushroom, and scallop powder, which enhance the taste of food to encourage its consumption.
Individual apprehended
Following a review of in-store surveillance footage, an individual was arrested by the police, Lilo said.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, Lilo confirmed that the arrested person was not an employee of either Lilo or FairPrice, and was believed to have acted alone.
The police confirmed with Shin Min Daily News that they received a report and arrested a 62-year-old woman on suspicion of shoplifting.
Investigations are ongoing.
Affected customers
In response to food safety concerns, Lilo said they have since conducted additional checks at other branches to ensure no further products were affected or tampered with.
Those who purchased Lilo products from the FairPrice Finest outlets at Wisteria Mall or Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 outlets between Jan. 9 to 15, 2025, and suspect they may have unknowingly bought an expired product due to this incident, are encouraged to contact Lilo immediately for assistance.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our valued customers and want to assure you that food safety remains our top priority," the brand said.
