A woman arranged for a 10-minute dance by dancers dressed in traditional Thai outfits at the Chinatown Erawan Shrine in People's Park Centre to show her appreciation.

This was after she won the Group 2 Toto prize on Jan. 3 after visiting the shrine on the ground floor of the mall.

Her winnings came up to S$136,132.

A photo of a cheque issued by Singapore Pools for that amount was put up online as proof of the lucky punter's claim.

The lottery winner also offered other sacrifices, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The dance took place at around 3pm on Jan. 9, and many passers-by stopped to watch, with some taking pictures with their mobile phones.

What lucky punter said

The lottery winner, who did not want to be named, told Shin Min that she started occasionally betting five years ago.

After she saw the Four-Faced Buddha at the Chinatown Erawan Shrine mentioned on social media about half a year ago, she went there with the mentality that she would just give it a try.

She said she spent $10 to buy 10 S$1 Quick Pick tickets at the outlet on the first floor in the same building.

The numbers were random.

She then went downstairs to visit the Four-Faced Buddha statue.

The woman added: "I have visited Thailand before and also paid homage to the Four-Faced Buddha. I feel very lucky to have won the prize this time. I have seen that after someone wins the prize, they will arrange dancers to perform a thank-you dance, so I made special arrangements this time as well."

Same batch as the famous shrine in Bangkok

There are several Four-Faced Buddha statues in Singapore, including one relocated to a temple along Race Course Road from Golden Mile Complex.

The 54-year-old manager of the Chinatown Erawan Shrine said the statue enshrined in the shop was made from the same batch as the famous Erawan Shrine on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand.

When his Chinatown shop opened, a Thai monk was invited to pray for the shop, the manager said.

The Singapore Pools website stated that two Group 2 prize-winning tickets for the Jan. 3 draw were sold at the People's Park Centre first floor outlet.
