A group of men, suspected to have been drunk, got into a heated argument at a coffee shop at Block 81 Whampoa Drive late at night on Jan. 10, 2025.

Things appear to have gotten dicey, however, when one of the men headed home during the argument to get a knife.

He then allegedly threatened one of the other men with the blade.

The commotion eventually led to police appearing at the scene, Shin Min Daily News reported.

Officers arrive in bulletproof vests

An eyewitness who was at a massage parlour opposite the coffee shop told reporters that he heard a commotion outside at about 11pm on Jan. 10.

When he walked out to see what was happening, he saw a group of drinkers arguing, as well as a clash between two men who appeared to be drunk.

He also saw one of the men holding what appeared to be a large knife, like the kind used to cut watermelons.

Soon after, more than a dozen police officers arrived at the scene, the witness said.

Several police officers were seen in bulletproof vests walking around the coffee shop, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The eyewitness added that police were still looking into the matter past 1am on Jan. 11.

Police apparently went to a unit in the HDB block opposite the coffee shop as well.

Went back to get the knife

According to Shin Min Daily News, the man returned home during the clash to get his knife, and went to the coffee shop to brandish it.

The man eventually returned the knife to his residence.

No one was injured in the incident.
