Police looking into reports of unauthorised payments linked to Koufu Eat app since late Oct. 2024
Be careful.
A spokesperson for Koufu told Mothership they had received a few reports concerning unauthorised transactions linked to payments made via the Koufu Eat application.
Koufu said they had notified the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on the matter.
SPF confirmed that a report was lodged and that investigations are ongoing.
The Koufu Eat application allows users to browse food options at various Koufu food courts and pay for their meals with a DBS/POSB credit or debit card or PayLah account.
Reviews on Google Play Store
Several reviews posted on the Google Play Store page for the Koufu application, between October and December 2024, allege unauthorised transactions linked to credit or debit cards registered with the application.
The earliest such review appeared on Oct. 26, 2024. The user said that they had added their card details but that none of them showed up in the application.
They then received an alert of their card being added to Google Pay, leading them to make a police report.
Another user, on Dec. 3, said they had been getting fraudulent transactions after adding their DBS credit card to the application.
One user, on Dec. 21, shared a similar story of their card being used for fraudulent transactions a few weeks after registering it with the application.
App does not store credit card details: Koufu
Koufu's spokesperson said that the application does not store customers' credit card details as its payment gateway is via eNETS.
Upon checking out of the Koufu Eat application, the customer will be redirected to the eNETS payment gateway to process their payment, the spokesperson added.
